FFI’s Summer Film Camp is a six week intense filmmaking program that takes place from June 17, 2019 – July 26, 2019. The camp will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm. There will be two field trips which will take place during the camp sessions on select Fridays. FFI will give up to 25 high school students ages 13 to 18 the opportunity to focus on essential and practical aspects of commercial motion picture production, including script preparation, cinematography, lighting, sound recording, directing, editing, acting and music. The program will feature instruction by South Florida Film Industry professionals. At the end of the session participants will showcase their short film project at the theatre. The camp will be held at the Coral Gables Art Cinema, located at 260 Aragon Avenue in Coral Gables.

The fee for the 2019 summer film camp $695 plus $50.00 reg. fee – total of $745.00.

Interested students need to fill out a required registration form and then a phone interview will be set up with the parent and also the student.

This year we hope to be able to offer a limited number of full scholarships to students in need of financial assistance (SCHOLARSHIPS ARE FOR MIAMI-DADE RESIDENTS ONLY). In order to apply for the scholarship you will need to send us the following information:

Please be advised that scholarship recipients are required to attend every camp session for the full 6 weeks. If you are unable to commit to the camp schedule (June 17- July 26) then please do not apply for a scholarship.

Once FFI has reviewed the documents a phone interview will be set up with the parent as well as the student. All applicants will be notified if they have been granted a scholarship for the program.

PLEASE NOTE: Upon acceptance into the film camp program, each student (scholarship and non-scholarship participants) will be required to pay a non-refundable $50.00 registration fee.

The Coral Gables Art Cinema is a project of the Coral Gables Cinemateque, Inc., a non-profit film arts organization. The Cinema, which opened in October of 2010, has a 16/35mm and industry-standard theatrical quality digital projection with 141 stadium-configured seats. The Cinema offers one of the best venues for appreciating alternative film in South Florida. It operates year-round, seven-days-a-week, presenting high quality American independent, foreign and classic films that are not generally available at other theaters in South Florida.
