SUMMER FILM CAMP
FFI’s Summer Film Camp is a six-week, in-person filmmaking program in Miami designed for high school students ages 13–18 who want hands-on experience in film production, directing, cinematography, and editing.
Held at the Coral Gables Art Cinema, this immersive summer film program for teens is taught by South Florida film industry professionals and focuses on real-world commercial filmmaking skills.

Who Should Apply
- High school students ages 13–18
- Aspiring filmmakers, actors, writers, and creatives
- Students interested in film, media, and digital storytelling
- Limited to 25 students for a small, hands-on learning environment
What Students Will Learn
This youth filmmaking summer camp covers essential aspects of motion picture production, including:
- Screenwriting & script preparation
- Cinematography & camera operation
- Lighting techniques
- Sound recording
- Film directing
- Video editing
- Acting for film
- Music and sound design
- High school students ages 13–18
Students collaborate to create original short films from concept to completion.
Industry-Led Instruction
All classes are taught by professional filmmakers and industry experts working in South Florida, providing students with real-world insight into the film and entertainment industry.
Student Films & Film Festival Success
Films produced during last summer’s camp—Do You Copy? and Sting—are currently screening on the film festival circuit.

Tuition & Fees
- Program Tuition: $850
- Registration Fee: $50 (non-refundable)
- Total Cost: $900
Thanks to ongoing grant support, FFI has maintained one of the most affordable summer film camps in Miami.
Food is not provided. Students should bring their own snack, drink, and/or lunch.

- A phone interview will be scheduled with the student and parent/guardian
Scholarships Available (Miami-Dade Residents Only)
FFI offers a limited number of full and partial scholarships for students who need financial assistance.
Scholarship Requirements
Applicants must submit:
- Copy of the student’s most recent report card
- Letter from the parent/guardian describing financial need
OR - Proof of participation in a School Lunch Assistant Program

After review, a phone interview will be scheduled with both the parent and student. All applicants will be notified of scholarship decisions.
Important:
Scholarship recipients must attend all sessions from June 21 – July 30, 2027. Students unable to commit to the full schedule should not apply for a scholarship.
Important Notice
Upon acceptance into the program, all students (including scholarship recipients) must submit a non-refundable $50 registration fee.
