Miami, FL – May 22, 2008 – It’s time to plan your summer and join the Florida Film Institute as they present, CINEMA, a film education summer camp sponsored by the City of Miami Mayor’s Heart of our Parks Summer Program and Governor’s Office of Film and Entertainment. The free film camp will be held at Athalie Range Park, located at 525 NW 62 Street, from June 23 to July 31. Up to 30 middle school and high school students are invited to attend the free workshops that meet on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Beginning this summer, FFI will give students the opportunity to focus on essential and practical aspects of commercial motion picture production, including script preparation, cinematography, lighting, sound recording, directing, acting and music. The program will feature instruction by South Florida Film Industry professionals. FFI will introduce a beginners Yoga class for students. At the end of the session, participants will showcase their film at the Mayor’s Recital.

Registration is available now at the Florida Film Institute Office and will end on June 20th, 2008. Auditions will be held for the Film Camp participants on June 23-24 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students will be asked to audition regardless of past experience. Auditions may consist of acting, singing, dancing and film technical skills. The film workshops are free and limited to 30 students. Contact FFI’s office at (305) 891-3456.

Founded in 1992, the Florida Film Institute teaches the art, science and business of filmmaking through a series of workshops designed to inspire and empower aspiring filmmakers, providing them with the know-how to create their own film.
