Florida Film Institute (FFI) will celebrate its 15 year anniversary!
Dear friends and colleagues:
This year, the Florida Film Institute (FFI) will celebrate its 15 year anniversary. To celebrate our anniversary and accomplishments, the FFI is embarking on a fundraising campaign that will help support and further grow our programs.
Throughout our 15 years, FFI has grown to mentor more than 4,400 Miami-Dade and Broward County students and has watched our library of short films grow from two films to more than 50. Our student films have been recognized 30 times by various film festivals, with 5 national, 2 regional and 23 local awards. In addition, the in-school programs, film workshops and scriptwriting seminars have expanded exponentially and continue to grow to serve a broad audience, diverse in both ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Currently, FFI is the only organization in Florida that provides a program for students in a variety of schools to write, produce, and enter their films in various competitions around the nation. Unfortunately, our ability to continue our programmatic expansion is limited because FFI lacks editing equipment, and our filming equipment is becoming antiquated by industry standards. In order to continue to serve students and provide them with the best possible education in preparation for a career in the filmmaking industry, we must expend capital dollars to bring our equipment up to date. With your help, we can purchase the needed equipment and supplies for our students to continue their successful careers in filmmaking. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to purchase this equipment and help expand our programs before our current classes begin their filming projects in May, 2007.
Your donation to the Florida Film Institute is an investment towards the future of an aspiring filmmaker. Through your generosity, the students at FFI will be given a once in a lifetime educational opportunity to accomplish their dreams and aspirations.
For your convenience, you may simply go to the top of this page and click Make a Donation.
Donations of $25 – $99 will receive a mention on our website
Donations of $100 or more will receive a copy of “A New Love”.
* “A New Love” has won the Best Florida Film at the 2006 Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival and will be screened at the “Romance in A Can” Film Festival.
Thank you for your support to the Florida Film Institute’s ambitions of teaching art, business and science of filmmaking to the South Florida community.
The Florida Film Institute (FFI) was established to provide students and adults with a nurturing and hands-on environment in the field of Media Arts. Since its inception in 1992, FFI has mentored over 6,320 middle and high school students from Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. FFI strives to provide a nurturing environment to teach the art, business and science of filmmaking, so that the participants may have the confidence and experience necessary to consider it as a viable career path.
