FFI’s Cinematographers in Education and Media Arts (CINEMA) is an award-winning film education and media arts program that enriches the learning experience of young adults through hands-on filmmaking training. The program teaches the art, business, and science of filmmaking, preparing students for creative and technical careers in media arts.
Now in its 33rd year, FFI works with selected high school students across Miami-Dade County, encouraging interest in film, television, and digital media. Students explore the full creative process of cinema through a structured curriculum that culminates in the production of original music videos and short films.
Recognized for its impact on arts education, youth development, and workforce readiness, the CINEMA program promotes self-esteem, creative expression, and job-ready media skills. FFI is a proven leader in youth filmmaking programs, positively influencing the growth of emerging creative talent in the local community.
FFI has worked in Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) to deliver media arts education to students throughout the district. In addition to public schools, CINEMA has been offered at the Coral Gables Art Cinema, Miami Children’s Museum, Miami Job Corps, AGAPE Family Services, Little Haiti Cultural Center, City of Miami Mayor’s Heart of the Parks, Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), and select schools in Broward County.
